Rio Shipping Lines Ltd. was founded by the late A.Z. Humayun in the early-1980s. He was one of the pioneers of the inland tanker shipping industry of Bangladesh, an acumen he retained from his days in bulk shipping during the East Pakistan period. All of the company’s ships were built in renowned Japanese shipyards. The company proudly worked with all 3 national oil companies of Bangladesh: Padma Oil Company Ltd, Meghna Oil Company Ltd., Jamuna Oil Company Ltd.

Rio Shipping Lines Ltd. currently owns 2 oil tankers, the M.T. Jalakumari & the M.T. Romel, each having capacities of 1.2 million & 800 thousand liters, respectively. The tankers are used to transport crude oil & finished products from the Bay of Bengal to our clients’ refinery in Narsingdi District.
